Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Went down the river about 7am and started my long run for the day. 12M at an avg. 6:45 pace on a beautiful morning. Just nice and easy around the greenbelt and through Snake River Landing.

Got back to the race start, got my bib number and talked with Lynette and Steve T. I was just using the race as a fast finish to my long run today, so I wasn't going out hard, about 5:50-6:00 pace target. The race starts and Steve and I take off from the get go. He is only doing the 5K so I let him go and just settle into a groove. First mile in 5:35 then the rest between 5:55 and 6:15. I had the race at 6.35 miles, so a bit off. Overall avg. right at 6:00 pace for the 6.35M, so just about where I wanted even though I slowed more at the end than I wanted to. 1.75M afterwards with Steve to cool down. Won a raffle prize (large canister of HEED sports drink).

Back home today to clean and totally reorganize the garage (all day long!). Now it is Miller time!

You are so funny and humble, Jeff! I had to re-read your blog and look at all the numbers a couple of times to realize how long the race was and that you won. Next time, please just start the entry with a big I WON! I WON! in red letters. Congratulations!!!

Jeff,

Good run. I hope that you enjoyed it. The raffle sounds great, enjoy the HEED.

Ogden was great. The weather wasn't as hot as last year. I started with a 5:02 mile, gapping the rest of the Marathon pack, and then ran through 7 miles with a kid named George, who was on a marathon relay team. From there to the end I was all alone. I stopped for a potty break, so my half splits were pretty even, 1:11 and 1:11. It was great. Hope that the training continues to go well for you.

Well done. Fast finish run huh? LOL. You're a friggin machine! Seriously, I didn't realize that people that would do that sort of thing actually existed. ;)
