Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

5M easy early (4:15) this morning as we are heading out to the desert today for work.  Hard to get going today but it was nice being outside in the morning for a change (24 degrees, no wind).  Will get a lunchtime run in at the site.

total time:  37:30 (Trigon - 547 miles)

5M at lunch on a beautiful day on the desert.  Temps were ok (31 degrees) but it was gloriously sunny!  Picked up the pace a bit to a 6:34 avg...felt pretty good but still about where I could run comfortably.  Try to do a 6:15ish pace tomorrow.

total time:  32:49  (Trigon - 552 miles)

Easy miles are good from recovering from an illness. I'm glad your feeling good, and getting your strength back.

Great to see you are returning to normal (actually I consider your extreme fitness to be somewhat abnormal - maybe because I'm a lazy old beer drinker!) Looking forward to a long run this weekend

From jtshad on Wed, Apr 02, 2008 at 15:17:13

Hey, when did I lose the beer drinker moniker? That's why we do this stuff, to enjoy the finer brews in life.

Let's hit that 20 miler this weekend.

From wheakory on Wed, Apr 02, 2008 at 16:13:09

What day are you running your 20 miles on and what time?

From jtshad on Wed, Apr 02, 2008 at 16:46:35

We are doing the 20 miler on Saturday, mid morning say around 10 or 11. Interested in joining us for a 8:00 pace run?

From wheakory on Wed, Apr 02, 2008 at 16:56:34

I'm thinking about it because I will be up there at 2pm for my daughter's dance competition and also my oldest daughter has soccer games, but I'm not sure what time yet. But we could come up early and I could get a run in with you guys. It all depends on what time my daughter's soccer games are. I'll let you know either way.

From Adam RW on Wed, Apr 02, 2008 at 21:43:06

What time do you go to sleep at night! I thought I wake up early... Also, when I first started reading I thought the 4:15 was pace ;)

From wheakory on Wed, Apr 02, 2008 at 22:26:49

Looks like I won't be able to run with you guys. My daughters first soccer game starts at 11am. You should have a good run because the temperature suppose to be warmer. I'll probably have to do my long run on Friday morning.

From jtshad on Thu, Apr 03, 2008 at 08:38:33

Sorry we can't hook up Kory.

Adam, I hit the sack around 10-10:30 so I can get up and get my morning run in before my wife heads to the gym. When she gets back, it is time for me to head to work.
