Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Easy 4.75M run around Fountain Hills.  Ran from our friends house around the fountain then up to the Fountain Hills Middle School (Exchange 24 for Del Sol Relay).  Relaxed easy run in cooler temps (for AZ).

Going to hit the expo today and take the kids to the AZ Science Center right next to the expo.  Getting excited (and nervous).

Ok, more nervous now...I just read that 13 Kenyans had to withdraw from PF Chang due to political strife in Kenya and couldn't make it, only 2 runners from Kenya are scheduled to run...could I make a top 10 finish???  Based on last year's times, I would be about 17th if I hit a 2:35.  Don't think about it, Jeff, just run...

total time:  33:30 (Saucony Stratos - 105 miles)

Aim high, go for the win! Remember, you have the altitude advantage, plus the blog advantage.

From Cody on Fri, Jan 11, 2008 at 13:12:35

Wow, you only have to trip 2 guys to win. I am pulling for ya!!!

From Lybi on Fri, Jan 11, 2008 at 13:20:58

Wow, exciting stuff! Good luck, and welcome to the wonderful state of AZ. Tell me your didn't really go swimming though! You get softer when you are used to the warm weather. I really don't like swimming unless the water is at least 86 degrees. he he!

Top 10 if your there go for it. You've got the skill and determination.

Kick butt! You can do it How did you manage to start all that trouble in Kenya?

From jtshad on Fri, Jan 11, 2008 at 19:33:06

Great day in downtown Phoenix. Kids to the Science Center, Rachel and I to the Expo...pretty big, it rivals Boston.

Lybi, yes I went swimming with the kids this afternoon, the pool is heated to 92 degrees!

Dan, well as a government employee, I can pull some strings (just not in our office)! :-)

Weather is looking to be perfect...anticpated start temp...46 degrees.

When I got my bib today they said I was the faster runner to check in to that time and wondered why I was even there and not in the elite category...if only. Hopefully my pace will be where I want it and we'll see what comes.
