Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Last run of the year...13.1 miles in 1:45 on a cooler (24 degrees) and windy morning with slick icy pathways.  Met Curt, Craig (first 3 miles) then Andrea and McKay joined us for the run.  Great company, great friends...a good way to end the running year!   My mileage this year (second highest ever for me) took me from Key West, FL to Union Bay on Victoria Island, British Colombia.

A quick review of  my running stats (for my own validation) since I started training for marathons and really tracking mileage in 2005.  Prior to 2005, I didn't track mileage and ran at most 3 times a week for about 2-5M each time for the previous 5 years (2000-2004) as I was more focused on weight lifting and tennis in this period.  Estimate that I ran about 3,000 miles total prior to making running my central athletic focus in 2005.

Mileage pre 2005:       3,000 miles (est.)

Mileage 2005-2006:    3,878 miles

Mileage 2007-2010:  14,089 miles  (2963-'07, 3706-'08, 3760-'09, 3659-‘10)

Mileage to date 2011:  3,725 miles (12/30)

total:                          24,692 miles

Saucony Xodus 2011 Miles: 13.10

Did you know your total milage is only 256 miles short of running around the world...!

I'd say that's an accomplishment...!!!

From Jon on Wed, Dec 28, 2011 at 22:54:20 from 98.71.175.203

Impressive numbers.

How about we finish up the year with 3769.75?

From jtshad on Thu, Dec 29, 2011 at 11:08:53 from 204.134.132.225

Thanks guys.

Jon, don't know if I will get that many miles in for the next 3 days. I am hoping for around 3720.

Rock solid consistency the last couple years Jeff!

Looks like I'll have to run backwards for 18 miles, then stop...

From Alana on Thu, Dec 29, 2011 at 12:52:20 from 69.20.189.206

Jeff, I just noticed that I have run 60 more miles this year than Moxie. I was celebrating the fact that yes, I ran more than your dog, but then I realized she does not run year round. Good job Moxie. :) Oh and to you too...that's crazy mileage!

From Bonnie on Thu, Dec 29, 2011 at 21:53:20 from 150.135.114.118

Rob anb I were wondering yesterday during our run what the heck you are training so hard for? Did you miss the notice that it's the off season?

From jtshad on Sat, Dec 31, 2011 at 11:30:57 from 69.20.183.178

Steve, I run fast on the TM to get it over with more quickly! Plus, my speed work this summer sucked, so I am pushing hard now to hit the outdoor runs again hard in the spring to be ready for Boston.

Thanks for getting us out this morning. It has been a great year. Thanks for all the help this year, it has been good to ask you so many questions and have some great running support not to mention a great new friend.
