Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Looks like this week will be a total loss as I am still recovering from the flu...this one wipe me out.  I made it to work today to clear email, check the phone messages and such but not much more.

Maybe, maybe, Saturday an easy short run if the weather is nice, but I am not holding my breath (because I can't!).

I'm sorry Jeff. But consider this a rest break after the marathon. Your legs will definitely be fresh and you won't lose any fits.

You'll be in my prayers.

From jtshad on Thu, Mar 27, 2008 at 13:56:54

Thanks for the encouraging words.

From Dustin on Thu, Mar 27, 2008 at 13:57:11

Hope you get to feeling better soon. Holt has been sick down here, Mike Warren is having knee problems, and I messed up my calf, so our St. George group has been a little under the weather as well.

From jtshad on Thu, Mar 27, 2008 at 13:58:55

Dustin,

I have been trying to catch up and have seen some of what has been hitting you guys and it has not been good. Get your calf well.

From Jon on Thu, Mar 27, 2008 at 14:19:55

Yeah, it seems like everyone is getting sick- funny since the weather is warming up. I wonder if the "post-marathon" immune system let-down got you.

From Jon on Thu, Mar 27, 2008 at 14:28:02

Hey, are you not doing WBR?

From Josse on Thu, Mar 27, 2008 at 14:41:24

Man sorry to hear that your sick, me too. Although I have still been able to get in running without to much problem. You must be way worse off than me, or just a hole lot smarter. Hope you get feeling better soon.

From jtshad on Thu, Mar 27, 2008 at 15:52:35

That time of year for getting sick, giving eveyone a false sense of security then...WHAM!

John, I am not available the weekend of WBR so I can't run with you guys...sorry. As far as "post marathon" immune deficiency, I didn't feel bad until almost a week later, but I did run pretty far that week, so who knows...I was just sick.

Josse, sorry about your sickness but be glad it wasn't this crap I got. You have a race much sooner than me, so get yourself feeling 100% for Utah Valley.

From Superfly on Thu, Mar 27, 2008 at 15:57:39

Get feeling better Jeff.

From Adam RW on Thu, Mar 27, 2008 at 21:33:09

Jeff, I hope you feel better soon. Just think three weeks until sunny FL!

From Rachel on Fri, Mar 28, 2008 at 08:42:53

Hey Jeff, I hope you feel a TON better, I know taking running time off is hard for you but I'm sure your body appreciates it ~ I've been a little out of the loop with the Ellingson's here this week. Mitzi & I did a lot of power walking like the old days so I haven't had a chance to run this week either, but it was a fun change! Makes me look forward to it tomorrow though!

You'll enjoy it even more after this little break I'm sure! Take care and don't share your bug with your family!

From Bonnie on Fri, Mar 28, 2008 at 11:42:09

Hi Jeff,

I am so sorry you are sick ... you will bounce back stronger than before, I am sure!

Take care, I hope you can manage a short easy run this weekend, is the weather pleasant up there yet?

Bonnie

Bonnie, thanks. The weather is trying to get nice...yesterday we hit 47 degrees but wintery weather is back this morning.

Rachel, thanks for the nice words, hope you are having fun with the Ellingson's. We have everyone here on anti-flu drugs and it seems to be working so far.
