Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Had a hard time getting out of bed this morning.  Even then , once I got the gym I wanted to stop before even a mile went by.  Somehow finished 7 easy miles at a 6:37 average pace.  Man, 4:15am comes quickly and it is getting hard to get up.  (Launch)

Got an entry into the Surf City marathon on Feb. 6, can I turn around 2 marathons in 3 weeks?  So much for my break from training...I guess that was November 2010.

4 miles at lunch on a nice day...cool but sunny and no wind!  27:45 total time...a bit of a progression run from about a 7:30 to a 6:45 pace.   A nice run while deep in thought about life, work, running/racing.  (Ride Red)

James ran Surf City last year - check out his race report to learn a little about it. I'm sure you will run very well at all your races as always!

How do you pick your marathons? Dartboard? Or were you planning on being in California in February?

I'm going to be in Anaheim in January for work and am considering walking on to the LA 1/2. Going to play it my ear.

You can definitely do it!

Rob, was down there at Thanksgiving and my brother lives very near there. Also, easy and cheap flights direct from IF! Pretty much the same deal for PF Chang next month.

Dave, I remember James running it, I will definitely re-read his report and send him a note.

I've done the half - its pretty flat the whole way running on PCH by the ocean. It can be pretty hot even in February with the sunshine so its good to bring some sun protection just in case. I might sneak in a few miles this year. Good luck to you on multiple marathoning. I'm interested in how it works out as I am trying that in April/May.

2 marathons in 3 weeks in Jan/Feb? You sure are easing into the year... assuming you'll do marathons every week for the rest of the year!

Of course you can Jeff - no worries :)
