Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

5M run early this morning (4:30am).  Decent weather (cooler, no rain, a little wind) so I decided to go out early and do a progression run in my marathon shoes.  Good progression:  6:59, 6:48, 6:39, 6:30, 6:20.  Felt pretty easy for a morning run.  Might do another easy, easy 3M at lunch.  (Tangent 3)

Heading out tomorrow early, hoping the weather in Boston clears up for Monday!  Decent temps but rain projected.

3M at lunch around Freeman Park.  Had to get out of my office and get some fresh air.  Very easy and controlled, focused on goood toe-off form.  Good weather for the run as well.  (T2)

Jeff, good luck Monday! Maybe we'll cross paths as some point. I'm the guy who'll look like he's Mormon (6 daughters and wife trailing around). Your twin city marathon should give you an advantage for any rain type conditions.

Good luck in Boston! I hope the weather is great and you run an awesome race!

Thanks guys! Dave, let's hope we DON'T have TCM weather...that was miserable.

Thanks, You also? Some may disagree but this strategy does have some planned variation at a couple of points. Just experimenting as I'm not in peak shape anyway so we'll see.

Boston eh? I'm truly jealous! That will be an interesting one for sure! Good Luck and have fun too.

I've been waiting for the report but I'll comment anyway! Way to go! You did so great. That was the most awesome experience and I can't even imagine what it is like to be up with the elite crew. It was amazing back in the middle.
