Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

4.25M easy this morning. Short today as the power went out and I got up late.  Will go out again at lunch.

total time:  31:55  (Trigon 2 - 275 miles)

7M at lunch today on a windy day but a nice temp.  3M at about a MP (6:20) alternating with just slightly slower (6:35ish) for an overall avg. of 6:31.  Felt good and easy effort for being back at altitude.

total time: 45:24  (Trigon 1 - 436  miles)

Someday are like that, but I bet the extra sleep was going.

Jeff if your running the Pocatello Half Marathon your welcome to come down and spend the night at my house if you want so that you don't have to travel in the morning or get a hotel. I'm not sure what your plans are. We have enough room for your family too.

From jtshad on Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 12:42:49

If I run, I would just come down early that morning. My wife works (I think)so I would have to have arrangements for the kids. Thanks for the offer!

Man, you are putting in some crazy mileage!!

From wheakory on Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 12:49:33

If you change your mind the offer is still there. I'm trying to reach 100 miles this week so I can start the taper next week.

I think next week I won't do anymore 10 milers during the week so I can start a good taper. Maybe 8 in the morning and a few at either lunch or evening whenever the time is free. I probably will do my last 20 miler on the course this weekend, or maybe I'll just do 18.

From jtshad on Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 12:53:57

Wow, I guess it is time to start thinking taper, only 5 weeks away for you! I would taper your mileage a bit starting this week, but you could still get in a longer run (18ish) next weekend or even 8/9 and still be ok for the race.

A question for you...I am kinda rethinking my trainingn approach and was now thinking of running Poky instead of Salmon due to travel and being a bit further from TCM. What do you think? Up for some company at Poky? Not a done deal, just feeling things out a bit.

Nice MP at lunch. What is your time goal for Sat?

From jtshad on Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:56:12

Thanks Adam, nice race yesterday.

No race this Saturday, the HM is next Sat here in IF. 2 years ago I ran it in 1:15:49, so I will hope to be in this same timeframe.
