"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

8.5 miles / 1:12:15 / 8:30 avg. Overcast, intermittent snow, wind NNW gust up to 19mph.

Jensen Park/Bluff trail.

Yesterday, I ran in shorts and short sleeves. Today I donned full winter regalia. Pretty miserable to start but great once I warmed up. I was feeling sluggish so after 3.5 miles I did 4 x 1/2 mile with 1/4 mile recovery, except before the fourth interval I took a 1/2 mile recovery. My splits on the half mile intervals were around 3:30 (7:00 pace).

Splits: 9:08, 8:49, 8:59, 8:00, 8:27, 8:08, 8:06, 8:37, + .5 @ 8:04 pace.

Great splits!

I can't believe you hit that pace in the wind! That is some wind. Or did you run all the fast half miles with the wind at your back? Just kidding.

I'm afraid that the storm you've got today is coming my way tomorrow. I got your warm yesterday today.

Thanks April.

Actually Carolyn, most of the intervals were done on the way back, with the wind at my back. Except the last mile and a half, which was into the wind again. Running into the wind makes us stronger...yeah...that's it...

the weather today was quite a shock, huh? I am already sick of winter.

Very nice, I see you are working toward a fast mile time. I am going to the track tonight for 5X1200s, hopefully at 7:30. We'll see how I feel; its been awhile since I was speedy.

So is the dog studying for something?

Wow, snow! The Cascades got their first real dusting too. I love it. (Sorry, Red-R.)

Rooster - Winters there in Logan seem a little more harsh than we get clear over here in So. Davis Co. You've only been there what 16 years? You should love Winter by now. :-)

Lysa - Eat a can of spinach, and go run 8 miles!

Auntieem - Yeah, I'll try another mile maybe this weekend. 6:00 by the end of the year! You're always speedy.

Adam - Lol! Yes the dog is studying up on how to better be his own dog.

Sno - yeah, looks like Winter for sure. It's so inevitable. I think we still have some nice Fallish days before Winter really settles in. I hope.
