"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

sounds like my run today-same time, same distance. let me know your bib number for tou when you know it so I can look for you.

Thanks Nevels...shouldn't you be training for a 100 miler about now?

Rooster - your eight miler today was a bit faster than mine...by about a minute per mile.

I didn't get lodgings for the day before the race, so I have to pick up my packet the morning of the race, I'll be driving from Farmington that morning, so I won't know my bib# until 5:00 AM. But I'll try looking for you, if I'm still coherent at that stage of the race! Lol!

I'm stuck at 6s for my easy days. I keep thinking of you and your easy eights and wondering whether I should up it. Easy six just doesn't roll off the tongue like easy eight.

Carolyn - I don't remember where I got it in my head that 8 miles should be my sort of baseline run, but I try to do it most days unless it's a recovery run or I'm tapering, or unless I feel like crap that day, or if I just don't feel like it. "Discipline" isn't really a strong suit of mine.

You could call them "super six" or, "sleek six" or, "strong six"...you're right, it's hard to get that to roll off the tongue smoothly.

Maybe stupid six.
