"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

sounds like a nice course, kind of like our planet walk! are you going to do the TOU half as a tuneup for the full marathon? If not I will watch for you to come in at the marathon finish in 3:26!!! That is what I am predicting you will run.

From JD on Tue, Jul 28, 2009 at 15:22:23 from 64.65.159.206

Ha! Redrooster, I appreciate your optimistic prediction. I'll call 3:26 my "dream" outcome of TOU! First goal is to finish, next is to break 3:45.

I forgot the TOU half is on a separate day than the full. I hadn't considered running the half, I'll probably wait until the last minute to decide whether or not to do it.

nice splits! I really like 8 milers too. We should do one sometime together except I will only do it with you if you dont slow down for me. I will just have to know the course so that I can get done on my own time and you can be sitting there waiting with an ice cold water. hmmm, that wouldve been a diffrent beverage not too long ago.

Hey Lysa! Ice cold is as ice cold does!

Any Saturday early works for me, just give me a day or two heads up.

JD - just a little plug for the TOU half: it is a GREAT way to gauge fitness and prep for the full since in runs from mile 7 to mile 20 of the marathon course.

and on that note, i just realized that you are doing TOU full. exciting! hope to meet you at that race. i totally think you can break 3:45. go for it!

From Carolyn in Colorado on Tue, Jul 28, 2009 at 23:55:33 from 71.229.164.25

Nice progression run. And for the record, I'm confident that you'll beat 3:45.

Allie and Carolyn - Thanks, you completely and thoroughly rock!
