"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

Nice long run, JD!

Reading one of your previous entries about medical issues, yeah, life can sometimes get in the way of training, hope you can pull through. If anything, gentle running can help with any stress the issue is causing.

Have a great week of training this week, hope your leg feels ok.

PS - have you tried foam rolling your leg? The foam roller was one of the things that helped me recover, plus, whenever I roll my legs I feel so relaxed, it is almost better than sex :)

Nice run, JD! By the way, how come your picture has trees in the background? I didn't think Utah featured any trees. It looks like Washington.

Thanks Will. Running is definitely my salvation, but sometimes the running suffers too. I believe my mind is over the hump though as I'm doing much better this week. I haven't tried a foam roller yet, but you pitch a good sell for it!

Snoqualmie - lots of trees in Utah. This photo is taken in my yard. I love trees! With all the rain we've had this month, parts of Utah are looking like Washington for now.

Ah ha, this is what you are recovering from! Nice job on that long run, WOW! Glad you had some decent temperatures!

Thanks Kelli. Need to keep consistent with those long runs, they really make a difference.
