No run this morning. Feeling the post-marathon blues. Might hit the treadmill later, but I doubt  it since it would likely mean running after dinner (which I don't like to do).

There are plenty of bonuses to a late fall marathon - you get to maximize your training time in cool, fall weather. But the one downside is that when you are done, the days are cold and dark and short, and it's easy to slip into the PMBs.

Put on your elf costume and go sing Christmas carols in West Philly.

I think the weather has a lot to do with it. I had about 30 minutes more daylight in Indiana. In Maine sunset this time of year is around 4:10!

Drizzly and cold the last few days, but the lows are 32-35 with highs in the mid-40s. Fine with me as long as there's nonsnow. I've been sketching a training plan the last few days even though I'm going to be doing a lot of easy running for the next several weeks. No real racing planned until February.

It's nice living on the western edge of your time zone. We've got that in SLC, and the mountains are to the east of the city, so the PM daylight stretches out just a little bit extra.

whoopsies, i ran into the blog bug. the comment on jan 1st should have been here. i was looking at your graph view. it's very pretty and consistent.

here's another blog bug:

edit: nevermind -- you don't have a jan 1st post so that comment went...nowhere? i'm curious. i hope it doesn't end up unread in sasha's odd 'n ends basket and then one of his kids stumbles upon it and it turns into a jumangi situation.

It's like when the information screen on the bus flashes January 18, 1971. I look down to make sure my legs aren't disappearing.

I'd like to see a study done on runners brain chemistry during training versus the days and weeks after a marathon before normal training resumes. Might be something there.

I'm SURE there is something there. I'd search PubMed right now if I had time.

Semi-related, interesting article:
