Bike path to Soldier's Home Road - 18 miles, average 7:23.

Ran with Brandon and Julian, who looked like a modern day Jesus coming out from his loft apartment without shoes or a shirt (he's a barefoot runner). I think they did a 16 or so, and I ran to and from the meetup point. I had a little fun around mile 15 or 16 after we came down the hill from campus and pushed the pace a little. They caught back up and asked if they missed the memo. Really I was just seeing how my legs were doing. A little tired throughout the run, but I am feeling good. At least I'm getting tan.

Headed to Toledo to visit Megan while she is at her parents'. We will be doing some last minute wedding things. Might see if I can entice her with my shirtlessness and go to the University of Toledo track and do something short on Wednesday. Might just make getting out the door for 70-80 minutes each day the goal until Thursday.

Sorry you had to go to Toledo. I was born just up the road from there in Wyandotte, Michigan.

You should get that Julian dude to join the blog.

My grandmother is a Michigander too. She's 90, but I can still hear the Midwest in her accent.

Julian is great. He's been running barefoot since 2006 I think and he's a 2:38 guy. I'll see what I can do about recruitment. I'm convinced Brandon still does his on pen and paper as he probably did in college. Incidentally, instead of Greek names in college his teammates did Kenyan names.

We could use some more geographical and philosophical diversity around here. That's why I miss Bam.

I suspect Julian might even be a Democrat!

He's an economics professor, which is just to say I suspect maybe but it could go either way, even though to all appearances he could be one of those weird liberals in the English department (or some other humanities program).

A quick google search brings up some interesting articles about Professor Julian. He's gotta be one of the faster barefoot runners around!

I already did that Jake. Like I said, he needs to be on the blog.

Apparent he's semi-famous. Who knew? In terms of Lafayette he probably is one of the fastest marathoners period (not a fitness Mecca as I've said). Not sure regionally or nationally.

We were talking about the sub-2:30 marathon in terms of long term goals and whether closing faster was good/possible/desirable. I think I'll send him a message and a link to Glen "Little Bad Legs" report from Newport when he closed well when he broke 2:30, which would give a kind of preview of the blog.

I think it's funny that as long as you know someone's first name and they are a barefoot runner, you can type in "Barefoot runner [insert name]" and easily find everything about them on Google.
