Yes. It goes into cool down mode, which you can fight for a while if your want to bang your head tints the console! It's serviceable.

If you're desperate enough (you're probably not), you can sometimes override it by googling the owner's manual. I had success with that a few years ago when I was relegated to the gym TMs:

8 minute pace on a treadmill may not seem that impressive but with two people it would be. I imagine it's pretty difficult to synchronize your strides for 40 minutes?

Haha. I guessed I left that open didn't I? That's about 10k pace for her right now I would say but I've pulled her in my first half to just below that. I think I could do it front to back, side to side if I was on the right because I tend to drift that way.
