I've wanted to run this (http://connect.garmin.com/activity/252286222#) course for a while and today was the day. It was snowy but that actually made it more fun. It wasn't really cold on the trails but the firebreak road was pretty windy. I think next weekend I might add a run up to sunset campground on to this loop. That should make the distance closer to 20 miles and the elevation closer to 4,000.

That's pretty neat. Up to Sunset is a good idear. I need to get back on the trails and try something like that. What about adding in a climb over to the other side of the canyon on the high bench trail toward Bair?

That would add some good miles and vert. It's something like 10 miles from my house to Bair and back with 2,000+ feet of elevation gain. That would make the total distance 21 miles and 4,600+ feet of vert.

Good one.

I ran from Baer to up and over flag rock and then back (though I didn't go back up and over flag, that would give you a lot more vert). 17 miles, I started from my house, so it's probably closer to 15. But that keeps you all on the trails. 4700 vert. Freedom hills would be a good place to start.
