AM - 7.5 City Wells. Out running with the dog and I bumped into the team. So I ran with Nick for his last run before leaving tomorrow (don't worry, I didn't run with, coach, or interact the team; Nick and I did our own thing).  It was great having one last chat with him. I wish that every coach could get to work with a kid like Nick once in their career - hard worker, respectful, energetic, smart, leader, role model; I never had to get on his case with anything. He trusted me completely and I trusted him - and it worked out awesome, not perfect, but that's what makes it perfect. I've been blessed enough to have had a handful of guys and girls like him, and he's one of the best. (Riders 584.25)

AM - 10 Twix/Grass. Dog and I got three in before practice. Then some barefooting.  Felt pretty good today. Was able to talk/run with a few of the kids that I don't get to spend as much time with. And had a decent set of striders. My achilles have shown a little improvement (until the days that they hurt), not a lot of improvement in my hip though. (Barefoot '16 20)(Peg black 545)

afternoon - 2.75 DI. Weights - were I beasted as usual - and a 20 min run. Jumped in on the run to see if going in the afternoon would help keep the achilles stretched out more. I learned one thing, it is hot in the summer in St. Geezy.  (Adios 436)

AM - 11.25 Twix/Sand Hill. Both dogs for a mine and then Twix. Then the boys dragged me up Sand Hill from the Millcreek side. It was brutal; I was tired; legs felt the weights from yesterday; it was hot.  But I made it without stopping. Great guys. (Peg blue 261.25)

AM - 11.5 Twix/DM. Got just over 3.25 with the dog this morning. Then up to the Dirt Mile for the tempo. Really impressed with the team today - everyone gave a solid effort. Started off swing Addi doing her workout when I ran by with Twix; the younger/new kids gave a good push; Robs had the girls rolling really well (so pleased with how a few of them are bouncing back and making great physical and mental progress); I went with the JV crew and they dragged me to a great effort (6:44, :37, :35, :31) which pretty much did me in; and the V boys were having a solid workout (all of them stayed perfectly together, and their pace was exactly what we asked of them).  Pleased. (Pace 313.25)

afternoon - 2.5 DI. Weights and then a hot afternoon run. The heat really made me work hard. (Adios 437.5)

AM - 10.5 Twix/BHNP. Tired and painful running today. I had been thinking how nice it was to not have as much pain, but this morning right achilles and left hip flexor decided to fight back. Did the 2 mile version of the South Course and then out on the river trail. Ended with a few striders, but cut it short because of the hip pain and spent some time with yoga and stretching.  (Barefoot '16 20.5)(Riders 594.25)

morning - 12.5 Prosector. Got a late start because Deez slept in and had extra papers this morning (we were way past the 5 minute rule).  I hadn't really planned on running with the boys, but I didn't want to get out of bed (had plenty of excuses running through my head, especially after how bad injuries were hurting last night); so knowing they were meeting and that would get me going gave me a push. Ran Prospector from the top down. Started off nice; fell behind on some hills and then just cruised along. Trying to come to terms with it... Not that I won't get moving better eventually, but it's tough mentally.  In the back of my mind, there is still a some desire to race fast, but then I think about the training and really don't want to go there.  (Sense 38.75$

Good mileage week for me. Body feels it.

Goals for next week: keep on cruising. See if I can hang with the girls on the 5k.
