Considering the circumstances I guess this was an ok race. If only I could turn back time to January. My fitness is fine but the legs are just not road tested enough to expect to run what I think I capable of. I went out with the leaders at around a 5 to 5:10 pace but immediately after we started the downhill on 23rd I knew that my legs weren't there. Between miles 4 and 5 I was passed by Riley Cook, Steve, Walter and then another guy passed me at around mile 9. The last 3 miles felt like miles 21 to 24 in a marathon which means I will gimping around for the next few days. I wore my training shoes instead of flats to help my foot but I am still concerned that it isn't completely healed. I will do my best not to run for a week and if it still hurts after that I will be forced to buy a pass to a pool, dust off my fins and suit, and unretire from triathlon training. I also have a new mountain bike that is waiting to be ridden. If I am lucky I will break my collarbone for the 3rd time so my foot will have time to heal. Congrats to Walter and Steve for kicking my trash and to Allie for WINNING the race. Correction: I have already broken my collarbone 3 times. Next time will be the 4th. Left side needs a break to even it out.
