How's your foot today, Fritz?
I like to think about these types of things. By any chance does the pain increase with inversion or eversion of the foot? (Does rotating it outwards or inwards hurt more? Or is it the same?) Also, does any of the pain radiate to your heel or is it pretty localized?

hmmm...not that great. It hurts more when I rotate it inwards but the pain is mostly on the outside and around the lower part of my ankle. I hope I don't need to visit Josh again. :)

My guess (and like I said, it is merely a slightly educated guess) from what you are saying is that you have injured your fibularis/peroneal tendons (there is a longus and a brevis). These tendons pass around the back of the lateral malleolus (that bony part of your ankle on the outside) and attach to a couple of places on the outside of the foot. Their main functions are plantar flexion and eversion and are used extensively in running ... especially if you are running on a slope. Often when they are swollen it hurts to try and invert them (rotate inwards). Any chance you have a little swelling around your ankle? Can you feel pain by merely pressing on these tendons? What about your calf, is it extra tight?
I think Josh is AWESOME!!! But ... I hope you don't have to see him again! :)

Teena, I don't notice any swelling, no pain by touch and my calf isn't tight. Is this a good thing? I sense some improvement but I know if I run it will just get worse. Thanks for the info.
