Nice bike ride with Adam H. up Millcreek Canyon. The mountain bikers and hikers were out in full force. Perfect July day.

Way to just throw away 100% of your hard earned fitness by taking FOUR WHOLE DAYS OFF after a marathon.
What are you thinking?

I know. What am I thinking? Yes, I probably could have run a bit starting Thursday and it would have been completely miserable and unproductive. Instead I gave my joints the rest they needed and still got in some good aerobic workouts. Crazy, huh? I will probably run tomorrow, however, so I can save the last 1% that I haven't lost.
Can you explain why people think they lose running fitness when they take a few days off from running? I do agree that you can lose fitness just sitting on your butt for several days.

It's Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. That and fear of seeing a zero in their running log.

Some of us just get bored, too :-)
If only there was a consistent summer snowpack - then I would just ski on days after races!

I don't know anyone on this blog that has OCD.....

Rob asked the question. :) We all like different activities and I just choose to do something else I like (biking) after races because my body doesn't feel like running. Each to their own, right?

Fritz, I have learned a lot from watching your blog. I used to think I had to run every day. Of course I don't seem to get the same results from cross training as you but it sure has been nice not being completely injured all the time.

I think you said the key thing.... You gotta have FUN! And when fun = biking, skiing, etc. it's just a bonus for your overall fitness :-)
