What exactly is gunge water.

It's that stuff in the Jorday River. Outside of sewage treatment plants, I can't think of more poluted, dirtier surface water in Utah. I soaked my hat and shirt in the river. As long as I didn't get any in my mouth I should be ok, I hope.

Very nice run!!! You must have been full of energy after your trip to Yellowstone.

Same sentiment as Teena's!!! Are you training for the Badwater Ultra, or DeathValley, or Run with the Devil Half (which had the temp at 112 degrees last weekend)? That JR water is nasty!!! Have you try carrying frozen water bottle? You're such a DIEHARD!!!
