Morning we went on a short 3 mile easy run to refresh our legs, and I was feeling confident.

Got to the race and relaxed for 3 hours then went on our warm up, got prepared and went to the starting line.

Gun went off and I got pretty good position. Through the race i slowly moved up into the top 5. First mile was 5 flat and I was still feeling solid. Then Ben and cross surged up and I didn't go with them. I don't know why, I just had the wrong mindset. Slowly but surely they just got further and further ahead. But I still didn't give up cause I had a lot of guys on my heels, so I made my push where I was supposed to and got to where I could see cross again (he had fallen off Ben dramatically) and he was struggling. I made an effort to catch him and started to but he was so far ahead I just couldn't get him. I still finished hard 9 second behind cross and Ben got sub 15 (only 2 one to do it in all of utahs history)

I'm happy about my race and all that I've accomplished this year. This is the first season that I've gone through a whole season without injury which has made a huge difference in my success. I think the main problem with this race was that I kind of went in knowing I'd get third. Both these guys got 1 and 2 last year and I was afraid to go with them. And looking at my time, i was sad mostly because everyone else got smoking faster, however I got our school record which is 14 years old by 7 seconds!

I still have a lot of season left so now I just look forward! Goal: make it to nationals!

First off - congrats on another really good race, and taking a big chunk of time off the school record!! That's impressive.

You've got the right perspective about this... staying consistent and healthy pays big dividends... and you've still got some big races left this fall. Stay after it, keep the fire burning, and make it to Nats!!

Congrats, you had a great race, running by yourself for almost the whole thing would be terrible. Are you going to Nike and Foot Locker?

Great race! 3A is really tough.

I remember a time not so long ago when 15:39 would have been a guaranteed state championship.
