race: well we'll start out saying that i'm an idiot. i thought i'd be cool to wear my freshman spikes to this race so thats what i brought, but during the warm up stuff i realized that they were really worn down on the bottom so every turn or hard surface i ran on i would be on ice.

now that we cleared that up :) warmed up 3.5 miles feeling pretty good. Race started and i got out into top five and kind of fell off the course (this is where i found out about my shoes!) after first mile (5:05) i was in third. by now i should have been moving it up into the lead but i just couldn't get my legs moving so i just kept it where i was. after second lap they had a good 50 meters on me then with .5 to go i finally started going again and caught the second guy then slowly gained ground on the leader...then we hit a corner and i lost ALL my momemtum. but after getting it back i caught him with 300meters to go (on track) and i was able to sprint it in hard beating him by 8 seconds.

i was sad about this race cause i missed the course record by 4 seconds and i'll never get to try for it again, plus it was just cause it was a terrible race. But i'm not crying over it cause it wasn't a big meet and our team did much better as a whole. JV killed everyone and varsity got 2nd but pretty dang close to DH. I'm excited to see how we do with the next couple meets!

Nice race, especially with the old spikes.
