Long campus tour today. Walked probably three miles around campus during it but I won't count it. Three mile warmup from the condo to the soccer fields. I was joined by a fellow runner about a mile in, and I talked to him for the remainder of the warmup. I thought him to be a U of A track runner, turned out he was the distance coach for the Ohio track team. We talked about our schools and how crazy fast Garek and Casey are back in Utah. He seemed like a really cool guy. Anyway workout was 2 sets of 3x800 with 2 minute rest, active rest, 7 minutes between sets, on the fields. Path I layed out was about .15 straight into the wind, with one really brief downhill, maybe 5ft drop in like 2 seconds. 90 degree turn, like 100m, 90 degree turn, then run straight for about .2, going back up the hill, then a 45 degree turn and run in for an 800. 400m jog back to the start. I measured to make sure all were accurate, and my watch had them usually at .49, so about good. Splits were 2:31, 2:32, and 2:34 for set uno. Felt pretty crappy towards the end. I went up probably 12 flights of stairs, walked a ton, and ate a hefty college lunch. The ground was soft and my trainers stuck in a bit when landing. Humidity sucked. It was tough. But then I started thinking about how much I wanted to run for college, and how I'd have to push to get there. Times after that were 2:26, 2:29, 2:28. I dig deep on those ones, I imagined myself running in a collegiate uniform and when I felt tired I just kept pushing. I know the times weren't crazy fast, but I pushed hard by myself and I'm happy with it. Cooldown back to the condo.
In other news, Alabama was voted to be the 27th best college in the nation in respect to attractive ladies attending. If Utah was a college ID have voted it #1, but the girl population here is like 60%. And it's like 30% at mines...
