Short-Term Running Goals:

-Qualify for the 2024 Olympic marathon trials

Long-Term Running Goals:

-Run a few fast marathons. Grandma's, St. George, and Boston are on my target list. An Olympic Trials qualifier would be amazing.

-Break stroller records?

-Stay fit for a very long time. I believe what goes into making a competitive runner at age 60 is much different than age 20, just like what goes into making a good marathoner differs from a good sprinter. I hope that by taking care of my body, I can be very fast for my age as I get older.

Personal:

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served a mission in Rome, Italy from 2015 to 2017. I eat a whole food, plant-based diet, which I believe helps my running. I like chocolate shakes on sunday nights and I will always call the Pacific northwest home.

Great workout today! I felt rejuvenated and like I actually wanted to run again. Part (but not all) of this is due to the fact that I ran well. It was 3 by 800 with 3:30 rest on the field next to the track that is on a slant so it's actually really slow... 2:20, 2:19, 2:15.

Well today was my last day of XC. We had a time trial at Kiwanis park. Four laps. It was so cold and bleak outside and it hurt so bad it was as close to running through h*** as I've ever been haha. I ran 21:14. Three seconds faster than what I ran a couple months ago on a much, much, faster course. Kiwanis always sucked. Having said that, I'm not very happy with how I ran. I was glad to hear that Tanner felt like I did; we both felt like we had peaked a couple weeks ago and we have been exhausted every day for a couple weeks now. I mean, in past seasons, I maxed at 45 miles a week... In August. Now I've been running 60 plus miles a week, when I normally would already have been on break after districts (when I would have been doing hardly any mileage!) I still feel like despite my poor peaking, I have a lot of fitness I don't want to waste right now, so the next week and a half through nationals will be super light mileage to recover from this season while hopefully not losing much fitnes, then I will move into some track work for a mile time trial on the track. The obvious goal to shoot for is sub 4:20. Hopefully I'll be up for it! This has been a really epic XC season though and I know I got into great shape even though it still has yet to show in one individual race.
