Yes, I am a Virginia Tech Hokie.  I pretty much live and die with VT football, so hide the pups indoors this fall if the season goes south.

I grew up in NJ, competed in middle school XC, was primarily a 400m sprinter (& XC) in h.s., and an 800/400m mid-distance runner at Virginia Tech.  Graduated VT with an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, and currently am involved with the youth.

This blog is dedicated to my family and friends.  I have 2 (er 3, sorry Tambo!) wonderful sisters and 2 very supportive parents.  Kim is a Graphic Designer in D.C., and at one time rode and trained horses; Melissa is an English Lit teacher at an all-girls h.s. in NJ, in addition to being the XC/track coach.  She really likes comma splices.  Tammy is an Elementary Teacher and a crazy good soccer/basketball athlete, lives across the block from my parents, and is very funny.  All 3 have run at least one marathon.  I believe Tambo has run more marathons than I have.  I am ok with that.  I am very proud of them all.  Oh yeah, also 2 screwball huskies, Apollo and Zeus.

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.  It knows that it must outrun the fastest lion, or it will be killed.

Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up.  It knows that it must outrun the slowest gazelle, or it will starve to death.

It doesn't matter if you are a lion or if you are a gazelle.  When the sun comes up, you'd better be running.

8 miles out-and-about the hilly paved backroads of Green Valley and Sunbrook.  This proved another good test for the shin.  Legs were fatigued from yesterday's workout, but felt fine otherwise, so I decided to challenge myself on the hills.  At one point I passed a gathering of ladies on the far side of the street.  One shouted out, "Look a *jogger* holy cow!".  Had I had my rolled-up copy of Runners' World on me, I might of had to go to town on the lady.

Good run.

I get the "jogger" part. What I don't get is, why did she say "holy cow"? Was she visiting from some land where people don't run? Like Texas?

From erichokies on Thu, Jul 10, 2008 at 08:10:55

I don't know. Maybe she thought I was a cow, it was kind of dark. I think you should ask her and then report back.

So are you a "holy cow" or just a "jogging cow", oops I mean a "cow" (please don't hit me with the mag. Missy made me say it) and why were they gathering to begin with? So confusing :(

Hey Miss Malory! Question for you. My friend wants to purchase a miniature horse and keep it in her house, kind of like a dog. Even let it sleep on the bed, and build a little barnhouse in the backyard for it. It all seems very well thought-out. Do you see any problem with that?

From kmalory on Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 08:53:37

Ummmm - will it be sleeping under the covers or on top of the covers?

Eric, Is your friend Greek? Maybe she wants to get freaky with her horse. Invite mom over--she loves a good pony party.

Hey girls question for you. My friends want to purchase a giraffe and keep it in the study, and a grizzly bear and allow it free roam of the house. They have two infants which sleep in the living room, but they are in a crib. Would you have any issue with this?

From kmalory on Sat, Jul 12, 2008 at 09:47:24

I don't see any problems with that. How tall is the giraffe? They might need to pop the top of the study first. I heard grizzlies can be quit cuddly. I say let them all out of their cages and roam free :)

Very funny ya sickos! I believe you are failing to grasp the very palpable and perilous nature of my scenarios! See if I ever bring any zoo animals over to your places!
