Track workouts at 5:30 a.m. are rough.  I may try to get some in later in the day to see if there is a difference in how I feel.  It also doesn't help that I was tossing and turning like crazy last night.

I warmed up 2.5 miles to the track and ran 4 x 200.  I felt pretty good on the 200s.  I couldn't see my splits on the workout, so I was running by feel.  The workout was 1 x mile. 2 x 800 4 x 400.  400 recovery between the miles and 800s.  1:30 recovery between 400s.

mile:  5:46

800's  2:49, 2:50

400's:  79, 79, 79, 79.  I'm nothing if not consistent.

I thought I would have been faster, but that's what came out.  I'm hoping to see some good improvement over the next few months.

2.5 mile cooldown.  My legs are tired.

I read Brenda Martinez's workouts for the week.

Umm. yeah.  That might be why she is a world championship bronze medalist.

13 x 400 @ 65?!?! what in the world.

nice job this morning -- good, consistent splits. that's an early hour to be out on the track! i used to have to do all of my runs starting at 4:30/5am due to my work schedule, but when i was finally able to do some PM running (specifically workouts), i definitely felt better. i know you have a lot of other things to manage though, so good job getting out there and doing it when you could -- you're very dedicated.

i would love to meet up with you occasionally for some track work -- but only if you want company. :) maybe we can start up a weekly run or workout again as things get warmer and we have more daylight to work with. superearly hour is fine with me...

I would love to join forces with you, Allie. Let me know when you are back to running. Even if it's recovery runs; I would love the company. I like your 5k training plan. I would like to regain some of my former speed, so if you want a workout partner, I'm game. Is the 5k in Tucson a road 5k or a track 5k?

it's a road 5k. advertised as flat and fast. i am excited for it, and i would definitely love a workout buddy. i'll be back to running consistently next week and i will get back to actual training in the next 2-3 weeks, so i'll be in touch and we can figure out a plan.

i won't make it to the run on saturday, but i hope you all have a good run and hopefully i can make it to the next one (i know i said that last time -- james needs to stop racing so much!) :)

I have to think, it being a non-Championship year, Brenda has to be thinking of jumping in a 5000m. If she actually did those 400/Mile workouts, then she can run low 15s right now. Brenda and (especially) Jenny could probably take a run at the American record this summer.
