Jenny needed to do her long run today, so I decided to go with her to have a running partner. It was tough. I've only run 17-18 on my long runs. 20 doesn't seem like that big of a jump, but when I hit the 2 hour mark, my body stopped being efficient. Slowing down the pace may be easier, but running longer time-wise means your body has to become more energy efficient for a longer period of time. The first 20 miler is always a tough one. Then, they get a bit easier. We still averaged somewhere around 7:25 per mile. I felt great until 16-17. I'm glad to have it done. Next week I hit the Magna out and back. Worst. Run. Ever. But, great training for downhill marathons. |
