Running Accomplishments:

I'm a 40+ "used to be"...

7 years ago had BAD case of frostbite and nearly lost my feet.  Stopped running (obviously) & gained LOTS of weight.  Started jogging again when local community club needed a coach and found out that exercise helped to increase circulation in my affected areas as well as decreased overall weight which helped to take pressure off my feet.  Still deal with neuropathy and Reynauds--but do not take ANY pain meds to manage the pain.  Gotta' love running!!!

SO, any past accomplishments do not matter....only that I can get ut the door almost every day and run another run.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Currently building base to lead up to traditional Marathon

Goals:

Have not yet decided on race schedule for this year, but am shifting focus from ultras to trying to nail down some shorter speedy races and a tradtional marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running for as long as I can & share the knowledge that God has graced me with by continuing to coach as well.

Personal:

Son:  Drew...currently runs for Adam's State!!

Currently Coaching:  Revolution Running

Day Job:  St. Joe's Veteran's Home

Baby, Its Cold Outside...

SO, with school closed and the temps on the negative scale for once, I knew I could get in a long day at work without the pressure of having to race across town fro practice.  Problem is, my car did NOT want to go anywhere this morning....

Took the day off (well worked from home for part, napped, played with dogs and dreamt of running glory) but finally decided that I MUST go for a run.  Only thing is, I do not really trust my neighbors (pretty sure that the abondoned house next door has bodies buried in the backyard via the cop that now lives 3 houses down with wifey number 3...long story...and neighbor on the other side sits at home smoking his medicina; stash all day long...)  SO, called my BFF Angela to come over and jump my car so that I could get to the gym to run on the DREADMILL.

You could only imagine the shenanigans as we (+ Danny, our physio) tried to get my car up and running.  Many laughs and sparks later, the car was a GO!  Off to the neighborhood Y...

Ran regular warmup did stretches and got many a look as I did my drills.  Caught myself talking to the treadmill a few times and received many more odd stares...

5 min at Half pace (6:49) to get used to the gerbil ball that would be my home for the next few miles

4 x 3 min @ goal race pace (6:19) with 3 minutes rest at 8-8:30 depending on if I could manage to take a drink without flying off the back...

Then cool down.

LOVED that I could nail down a pre-race workout with "some" precision.  HATED being in a fishbowl with not very friendly folks that probably just did not get why I was breathing so fast for 3 minutes only to fumble for the buttons, almost fall off, mutter to the  machine and do it all over again...Also hated not having anything to look at other than the wall.  BUT I did discover that  3 minutes equlas short segments of "Walking in a Winter Wonderland, Rock Around the Clock tonight adn Rocking Robin"  all in my head of course.  BORED, BORED, BORED.  AND I was a soggy mess by the end of it, having sweated fiercely bad.

Now for some taper chocolate...mmmm....

Now that was funny! Talking to the TM is always fun. Good to see you got in your workout even with the Arctic freeze.

Car issues are the WORST! Especially in the cold. Yuck.
