Short-Term Running Goals:

I want to run more marathons, finish injury-free, go dancing afterwards, and mostly have a LOT of FUN!!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running!!!  Someday I want to be able to consider myself as something other than a beginner.  :D

Personal:

I am happily married, have 8 children, and am madly in love with my awesome husband!!!  Besides running, I love performing on stage, and have recently become re-involved in the theater, after a LONG break to have children.  Last summer I did my first show as a PAID professional actress!  I teach piano and voice lessons, and homeschool my kids.  Life is grand!

We spent all day at Disneyland.  I wore my sketcher's shape-up shoes, and my feet were KILLING me at the end of the day!  Other than that, I ate granola bars all day long and didn't get any exercise...  :D

Ben and I went for a run along the coast this morning.  We decided to run the first loop of the Ironman run.  It was REALLY slow going at first.  My shins totally locked up after about four minutes of running, and I had to stop.  I tried again, but had to sit down for a while.  I think it was the walking all day in my sketchers.  I thought I'd have to quit after a couple of miles, but by the end of the third mile, I was feeling better, so we kept going.  I took my walk breaks after every five minutes of running, but was able to finish the 7.05 miles in 1:12:23.  My legs actually felt better the longer I ran.  What a relief!  Tomorrow we're supposed to be at another amusement park all day - I think I'll wear my running shoes instead.  :D

Later on, I hit the gym for a mild HIIT on the recumbant bike - I did 5.07 in 20 minutes.  Then I did a little upper body work out - a set each of chest, back, biceps and shoulders.  I finished with a little bit of ab-ripper.  I'm trying to eat a little better today, but vacationing is tough on the nutrition plan.  :D

Ben and I did another run along the coast this morning.  I was hoping my shins would be feeling better, but they were doing the same thing as yesterday.  I ended up doing 4.2 miles in 42:01.  I'm thinking I'll have to take it pretty easy from this point on so that I can get my 18-20 miles in on Saturday.  :D

Tonight I did a 20 minute HIIT on the recumbant bike.  I did 5.27 miles.  I'm not sure if I'm sweating so hard because I'm hitting a "10," or if it's because it is so stinkin' HOT in the gym here!!!  Well, at least my sweat glands are getting a good workout....  :-)

We spent all day today at Knott's Berry Farm.  Then we drove home all night.  It was exercise, all right...but not the reportable kind.  :D

After arriving home at 2:30 this morning, I ran around all day long doing "rcovery" errands.  All I had time for was a quick 2 mile run here in the neighborhood before I had to be at my first appointment at 9:00.  Sleep was too valuable to get up any earlier.  Then by the evening, I was just too tired to do anything else.

Ben was a sweetie and agreed to do my 20 mile run with me today.  Since I was extending my last long run by 4 miles, I needed to take it really easy.  So we started with one minute walk breaks after every three minutes of running.  We did that for the first 7.5 miles uphill, at which point we took a potty break at the nearby McDonalds.  I adjusted my garmin to give us four minutes of running for every one minute of walking, and then it was four more miles of uphill before we finally hit the downhill side of the run.  But by then, we were pretty hungry, so we stopped at Del Taco and had break-fiesta egg wraps.  This, of course, made the whole run worthwhile to Ben.  :D  Two miles after that, we took another emergency potty break at town square, where the art festival was taking place, so we had to wait in line.  Then it was smooth sailing the rest of the way home.  We finished the 20 miles in 3:18:37, not counting the three stops.  My legs feel pretty good, but my feet are a little tired.  I did the whole run without my kinesiotape - first time since my injury over a year ago.  Progress!

This afternoon, we went to the rec center so I could do my upper body workout that I missed yesterday.  I was tired, but I think I made it a good workout.  I am SO ready for bed now.  I'm probably still pretty sleep-deprived.  :)
