Maybe someday I'll have something noteworthy to post in this section. I have only completed three 5ks and a 5 miler; all at an average pace somewhere in the 9:00-9:30min/mile range Painter's Half 2010 - 2:03:54 Short-Term Running Goals: Painter's Half Marathon - would like to keep an average pace of 9:00min/mile. Painter's Half - Went over my goal and finished in 2:03:54 :( It was my first half though. I had a great time and learned what I need to work on.
Salt Lake Half Marathon - would like to finish in under 2 hours. Long-Term Running Goals: Would like to complete a full marathon in the fall of 2010 and finally conquer the Herriman Hill...to be honest, there are several hills in Herriman I'd love to conquer, but that one for sure! Personal: I am a stay-at-home mother, married and have two young boys. Favorite Blogs: |

| | P90X "Plyometrics" workout. It felt great to sweat! I've been needing a great cardio workout for a while. I know that after lifting legs yesterday and doing plyo today, I will probably not be able to walk tomorrow but oh well! |

| | P90X "Shoulders & Arms" and "Ab Ripper" workouts. I feel buff now! j/k Ok, so my mom gave me some $ for my birthday to get some new running shoes. I went down to the SL Running Company this morning to see what they had. I took in my old shoes and after doing their little video assessment of me running on the treadmill, the salesman said I had been running in the wrong shoes for the last 8 months! I went to Wasatch Running to get my shoes before and they told me I overpronated and needed a shoe with a lot of stability. The guy at SL Running Co. said I only overpronated slightly and that running in a shoe with too much support could have been making my foot roll out too much and putting too much stress on my IT band. He did say it was unlikely that shoes cause IT band problems, but he said it wouldn't have helped if I was already having issues. So...hopefully after recovering for so long and with some new shoes, I won't have any more pain. Now THAT would be the best birthday present ever!!! |

| | I tried out my new running shoes today. They are great! I didn't take my Garmin with me b/c I didn't want to be upset about how slow I was probably running. So I just took my time and tried to enjoy myself. I ran the 3-mile route I usually run in 29 minutes and 3 seconds (I used the timer on my ipod). My knee felt pretty good until the climb back into my neighborhood so I walked/jogged the last 1/2 mile. I didn't really feel much pain, just some tightness. I don't have a race scheduled. Does anyone know of a good race more toward the end of the summer? I want to schedule something so I can get back into running, but I don't want to push myself too much too fast. Any ideas? |

| | P90X "Shoulders & Arms" and "Ab Ripper" workouts. My arms are going to be so sore! I'm starting to be able to lift more weight on some of these exercises. I'm nervous I might get bulky looking so I'm trying to keep my reps high. |

| | P90X "Yoga". Ahhhh, I love yoga. This was such a needed change for me. I've took a yoga class in college and when I was a member of a gym, I frequently took yoga classes. This is by far, the most difficult yoga workout I've done. It felt so good to stretch my sore muscles though. |

My husband and I took our boys for a long bike ride this morning. He pulled the bike trailer stroller and I rode beside them. Since we live at the top of a hill it was a nice ride down but coming back was a different story. That was hard! I just tried to focus on breathing and keeping a steady pace all the way up. I was so proud of my out-of-shape husband too who didn't have to stop once while he pulled 80+pounds behind him!
P90X "Legs and Back" and "Ab Ripper" workouts. Then I ran 2.5 miles on the TM to try to loosen up my legs a bit. I only ran at a 6.0 and I am really feeling the effects of taking 2+ months off of running. I have no endurance! Hopefully it will come back if I keep at it. No problems with my knee though so that's good news! |

P90X "Chest & Back" and "Ab Ripper" workouts. 2 TM miles at a 6.0. This wasn't as difficult as it was on Saturday and I felt like I could have done more. I'll will try for 3 on Wednesday and see what happens. I'm going to try to make it to 5 miles before I start increasing my speed again.
I'm going to visit my parents in Virginia this September. There's a half marathon that runs through downtown Richmond that I really want to sign up for. I don't want to push myself to hard to fast and have IT band issues again, but I would really like a sub 2 hour time...FINALLY! |

| | P90X "Plyometrics" workout. My legs are so tired! Good workout though. I wasn't really up for this today but I'm glad I decided to push myself. |

| | P90X "Shoulders & Arms" workout. 3 TM miles at 6.0. Slow, I know, but I still felt like I was pushing myself. Again, I'm going to increase my speed once I build up to 5 miles. |
