Ran the Hawthorn Half Day Relay as a 2-person team with Dave Mason. Ran pretty strong up through 27 miles, then started struggling from there on. Then on my 12th lap started cramping severely. Took 44:46 to walk that 5K and when I finished everything severely cramped up and I was done for the day. Dave ended up running the last 2 hours 48 minutes by himself, getting 46+ miles to give us 83.1 miles for 2nd in our division. Left knee didn't pose a problem at all. My calfs are still twitching. I was hydrating and fueling well, but apparantly OJ and gatorade don't supply the right amount and kinds of electrolytes. My first Ultra. Thinking it may be a long time before I ever attempt something like this again, but I do think I can still do well in a marathon. Going to take some time off. Been training hard non-stop since February. |
