Personal:

I am married and have two wonderful kids, 14 and 10.  I've been running since 1982.  I never get "basic" injuries.  I always get the real nasty career threatening kind, like stress fracture of the sacrum, ganglion cyst clamping  down on my peroneal nerve.

Ran the 40th Annual Sam Costa Half Marathon today in a pretty good 1:20:49.  Course was gently rolling hills and we had a steady 10 mph NE Breeze.  I was pretty much by myself in 15th place after the first 2 miles.  I had two guys that had about 30 seconds on me that I worked on for the entire race, almost picked 'em up by 11 miles, but started to struggle by then and was just hanging on.  Had severe lower GI pains almost the entire race (nothing like Grete Waitz in NYC), made it really hard to concentrate especially the last few miles.  Temp was pretty decent, 43 at the start.  Had to dump the Dollar General gloves once we had the tail wind at 5 miles.  First 5 miles were primarily into the wind.  Splits:

1) 5:54

2) 12:05 (6:11)

3) 18:17 (6:12)

4) 24:27 (6:10)

5) 30:33 (6:06)

6) 36:28 (5:55)

7) 42:29 (6:01)

8) 48:45 (6:16)  Long gradual uphill

9) 54:44 (5:59)

10) 1:00:51 (6:07)

11) 1:07:02 (6:11)

12) 1:13:14 (6:12)

13) 1:19:28 (6:14)

13.21) 1:20:49 (6:25 pace)

Thanks a lot! My next half is the Indy Mini May 2nd. It is a fast race that is flat and it is so big that there will always be runners pushing you along (along with all the fans).

Great race! Good job hanging tough even with the stomach problems. Looking good for Indy! I thought about running that race but couldn't make it. I heard it was a nicely run race.
