This was my second time running the St. George Half Marathon.  I felt going in like I was in better shape than last year, however I ended up being about 5 minutes slower than last year so that was disappointing.  I'm still carrying around too much extra weight which I think really makes things more difficult.  I felt pretty good the first few miles, but then really struggled with cramping, and just mentally the second half of the race. It was fun seeing my family at the finish line and then watching Jansen come in.  He crushed his marathon running a 2:50:22 for his very first marathon. Just amazing. Anyway here are my splits:

1:54:36  (8:45 avg)

1-8:20 slower than I wanted first mile, just couldn't get around people and was pretty slow going on the dirt road to start.

2-7:38 caught up to Steve Hooper,  Craig Coates, and Cody Campbell, this was fun running with them

3-7:45 another easy mile

4-8:17 still trying to hold back

5- 8:42 stopped to use the bathroom, this took awhile

6-8:38 walked some up the Winchester Hill

7-7:56 feeling ok

8-7:32 decent mile

9-9:36 starting to feel some issues with calves and feet hurting

10- 9:25 too much stopping and walking

11- 9:20 same as mile 10

12- 10:03 not feeling very good

13- 10:39 too much walking

.1- 8:25

In the end I'm glad I finished the race, and even though it didn't go as well as planned, it was still good to set a goal and train for it. I think with better training and losing 20 pounds I could get my time below 1:40.

1 mile walk in the evening.
