Drove into Charlevoix Friday evening – it’s about 7 ½ hour drive, more with stops obviously. It is a very nice little town. Shops and people were very kind. The town is honestly too small for the crowd as there is only 1 bridge to cross the water between Lake Charlevoix and Lake Michigan and it is a drawbridge. Oh and it goes up every 30 minutes. That being said they do a nice job putting on the event.
Morning weather was 57 and 82%, good for June. Of course it was sunny (and despite what they say 70% of the time you are in direct sunlight) the entire course and temps rose fast. I have found out that I just don’t race well like that. While I did not feel bad like Carmel and I did not crash nearly as hard, I still crashed and the results were about the same.
All that being said I had a good time and the course is quite pretty when you are running by the lake. I need some days off, maybe the whole week. Then I will just have to train harder and hotter.
