IT Analyst/Programmer for 20 years. Also, an avid gardner with a small retail nursery on the side.
I've been a runner most of my life. I started running in 5th grade when the high school coach started a "run for fun" program at all the grade schools in the school district. Also, growing up my neighbor, who was about 8 years older than me, was a superstar in high school with a 4:15 1600m in the early 80s. So I had some good role models.
Most important, I love the Lord, and serve Him in my church and in Bible Study Fellowship, which is an international Bible Study open to people of all church backgrounds (i.e. interdenominational). If you are looking for a phenomenal way to study the Bible and draw closer to God this is the study for you. Check out BSFInternational.org to find a class near you. They are all over the place! I think I found my next marathon. Oct 19th, Fort Steilacoom Marathon. RT, check it out. The whole race is inside the park, multiple loops. You can also do a 50K. I'll wait to register until the date gets closer. I may do the marathon, or if training is going well do the 50K. The goal will just be to finish in a moderate pace, no racing. Just trying to get back on the horse so I can get prepared for a more serious 2015 of running.

| 10 miles to the Interurban trail and back in 1:19:09 (7:55/mile)
This was my longest run in a few months. It felt pretty good. Didn't really feel too long by the end. Maybe a marathon in 4 months is doable after all. Other than the two uphill miles after the turn around, the rest of the miles were all under 8.

| 6 miles on Vickory in 45:24 (7:34/mile)
This was basically a 2 mile warmup, 3 miles at a slightly faster pace and then 1 mile cool down, but run continuously. Just trying to test the waters and start acclimating the legs and lungs to paces that are faster than my usual runs. It felt pretty easy, like marathon pace, but no way I could run half a marathon at that pace right now.

| 11 miles on Vickory in 1:26:01 (7:49/mile)
Felt really good today. Pretty energetic compared to the last few days. I was planning to run 9 or 10, but overshot the 5 mile turn around point, so decided to "go to 11".
65-70 degrees, sunny and light breeze. Pace was very comfortable. This is the longest run this year, but just by a mile. Didn't feel too long. Not sure why my last 4 miles ended up being the fastest overall.
Splits: 8:04 - 7:45 - 7:53 - 7:55 - 7:50 - 7:48 - 7:51 - 7:42 - 7:46 - 7:50 - 7:36
My main goal this week was to increase to 30 miles by adding in the 5th day of running that I keep meaning to do, but miss due to business. Looks like I added in an extra 5 miles elsewhere in the week, too. Running fitness is coming back. Now I've got to get the weight room going again.

Felt good and easy, except I still get tired after about 6 miles. It was warmish, 70-75 degrees, but with a cool breeze that made the shade downright refreshing. 70 wouldn't be very warm except we've been locked in low 60s the last couple weeks.
