I have been suffering from an injury around my inner ankle.  I thought it was a stress fracture for a while but some of the symptoms don't seem to match up.  I decided to go for 5 miles on the treadmill today just to see how it would feel.  I felt pretty good.  There was really no real pain... just some discomfort.  I think a stress fracture would have caused more pain while running.

Lifted afterwards... Chest, shoulders and triceps along with a core workout.

Welcome to the blog. You should have no problem qualifying for Boston with a 5:45 pace :)

Take care of that ankle.

Welcome to the blog David!

Burt you are correct! He won't have any problem qualifying for Boston with his AP.

From David on Mon, Apr 05, 2010 at 15:34:47 from 75.162.206.99

Thanks for the comments, but I guess I should clarify that that AP pertains to my XC races which range from 5k-10k. I would be happy with an AP of 6:30 for a Marathon.

Bec says we should welcome you.

Hi David! Welcome to the blog.

I like your pic :)

From Burt on Mon, Apr 05, 2010 at 16:34:27 from 206.19.214.144

Well, you only need a 7:15 avg. to qualify in any age category. A 6:30 avg. would put you at a 2:50 marathon which would be AWESOME...

Hello David! I'm so glad you joined our little blog family :) Now, I just have to meet you - sometime when you and Becca want to go REALLY slow (or leave me in the dust) I'd love to accompany/chaperone you two!! I'm with Burt on the marathon, you'd easily be able to BQ - it would just be the miles.

How do you like the AFROTC so far? My nephew is in JROTC in HS (yes, I'm old!) and is looking forward to AFROTC. His dad is an army man, but he wants the air-force.

Good luck with that ankle! Becca can tell you the horror stories of x-training on a stress fracture...blech!

From David on Tue, Apr 06, 2010 at 16:33:15 from 146.86.240.171

Hey thanks for the comment! Where does your nephew do JROTC? I also did JROTC in HS and it was through that that I was able to get my Air Force scholarship. What does he want to do in the AF?

From RAD on Tue, Apr 06, 2010 at 17:24:38 from 67.172.229.125

He lives in North Carolina, honestly don't know the name of his HS, sorry. I know he wants to do officer school - his dad is in the Army (only 6 or so years away from 20 yr retirement!), and he likes the idea of officer over just regular entry.

From David on Tue, Apr 06, 2010 at 17:44:05 from 146.86.240.171

Well yes if you can go in as an officer over enlisted then that is the best. I'm guessing he wants to be a pilot?

From RAD on Tue, Apr 06, 2010 at 19:25:20 from 67.172.229.125

honestly, the whole armed forces thing is over my head, I just pretend to know a lot :) He is in njrotc right now, and yes, he wants to be one of the bratty 22 year old officers telling 40 year olds what to do. He's heard enough complaining from his father, who due to knee injury can't go to officer's school, about the little punks who know nothing, but he has to listen to :) Totally suits my nephew's personality!

From David on Tue, Apr 06, 2010 at 20:15:07 from 146.86.240.171

Navy JROTC?? Ahhhh! Haha jk. That's awesome. Officer route is great and doesn't that just sound like fun?? A bratty 22 year old telling older guys what to do?? Haha won't make it too far like that.

From RAD on Tue, Apr 06, 2010 at 20:23:29 from 67.172.229.125

see...I didn't even know what the N was for :) He dad is stationed at Ft Bragg right now and so the jrotc is offered as a class in school. Growing up here I'd never heard of jrotc. I think the Navy one is just the most prestigious in his school - I think I've heard ramblings of that nature anyway.

You're right on the officer thing, and we try to explain that to him. However, I think he just likes the idea of power. You know how that is when you're 16 and everyone else is telling you what to do.

Welcome to the days of our lives!

From David on Wed, Apr 07, 2010 at 00:02:07 from 75.162.206.99

Hmmm that's not surprising. He's still young. Give him 4 years in College ROTC and he will have a better understanding of why he wants to go into the Military. He should at least...

WELCOME to the blog!!!

Welcome to the blog David, you have to get to know Walter and Burt, they are glue that holds us together ... or at least they keep me entertained ;-)

Walter, you might need to reimburse me for a new monitor if I can't the water droplets off it from when I laughed at your post.
