Personal:

I'm married to a very supportive, although slightly less enthusiastic runner than I.  Alisha has run a little with me and participated in several 5k's, but mostly she supports me at races.  She ran her first half in November, 2011.  We have a son who was born in 2010, the year that I ran my first marathon.  I participated in my first Triathlon in April 2011.  I think I may have been bitten by the Ironman bug.  Though an Ironman finish is a long term goal, I want to BQ first.

I find that the more I run the more I want to run.  I consider my self a running addict.  I like the motto: pain is weakness leaving your body.

Pace run.  The goal was to run 18 miles with the last ten at marathon pace.  The problem was two fold; heat and hills.  73 degrees with 94% humidity.  I also ran towards to Riverside Drive down the Creek Turnpike trail, which seems to be a lot hillier.  The second two miles of the marathon pace portion of the run had 59 and 62 feet of elevation respectivelly.

I started at 5:35 to meet Kevin and Keith for the first 4 miles.    I probably should have started half an hour earlier like I usually do to get most of the hard miles in before the sun got too high in the sky.  The heat was really getting to me this morning.

The first 8 miles averaged 8:22 pace.

The last ten that were supposed to be run at marathon pace ended up averaging a 7:31 pace.

General aerobic run with 10x100's.   The 100's were run in about 20 seconds a piece.  I still felt sore from the pace run on Sunday, but my turnover felt good and I felt strong on the 100's.

Mid-week MLR. 72 degrees with 100% humidity.  8:20 AP.

I ran 4 with Shane who advised me to take the day off after the Tulsa Run this year instead of running the 17 on the Advanced Marathoning schedule.
