Personal:

I'm married to a very supportive, although slightly less enthusiastic runner than I.  Alisha has run a little with me and participated in several 5k's, but mostly she supports me at races.  She ran her first half in November, 2011.  We have a son who was born in 2010, the year that I ran my first marathon.  I participated in my first Triathlon in April 2011.  I think I may have been bitten by the Ironman bug.  Though an Ironman finish is a long term goal, I want to BQ first.

I find that the more I run the more I want to run.  I consider my self a running addict.  I like the motto: pain is weakness leaving your body.

7 miles with 2 at marathon pace.  Pfitz calls this a dress rehearsal.  7:27 AP.  28 degrees.

I ran 3 to warm up and 2 to cool down.  I ran the 2 at marathon pace on the hilliest part of the run.  Actually I ran them faster than my marathon pace because I wasn't sure the hills were going to affect me.  So I ran down the hills faster in case I could not sustain the speed going back up.  My splits were 6:46 and 6:51.  The effort felt a little too hard considering I will need to run 26.2 miles at a pace close to this.  I'm blaming it on the elevation and faster pace.

I got home and discovered my sock was blood stained where I cut my skin near my achilles yesterday.  The stupid ankle zippers sometimes rub against my skin and I don't feel the sensations while I running.  Probably because distance running numbs pain sensors in the body.  Yesterday I got home and the skin was just a little bit raw, but not bleeding.  This morning I made sure to roll the ankles up so the zipper could not touch the skin.  I guess my sock and maybe my shoe just touching the already sensitive skin made it bleed.  I think I'll go with Neosporin and bandaids for the next few days.  This is not something I like to see just 4 days before the race.

I have a pair of shoes that cut into me right there too, very annoying. I ended up being able to run just fine as long as there was a bandaid or tape over the area.

Getting close to the race....remind me where you said to park? Some running store near the starting line, right?

There is a large parking lot across the street from the Fleet Feet store in the Blue Dome District. What time do you want to meet there? How early do you generally like to be at the starting line?

ok I see it there on the map. i usually get there a little early, maybe 6:45 - 7am at the parking lot, to allow for a couple PoP stops, etc. i'm flexible though.

I'll plan on being at the parking lot between 6:45 and 7:00 then to meet you. I'll text you when I'm there.

For the Tulsa Run they had several PoP's in the parking lot. I'm not sure if they will for the Route 66, but I'm sure they will have plenty as we get closer to the starting line.

ok, sounds good, i'll meet you there.
