Der Hammer is a nick name I picked up from my German friends while living in Germany. My real name is David. 

 I have been running seriously since March 2007.  I started with a local running group called "Gilbert's Gazelles".  Before that I had run a couple 5k's (26:00's) and never run more than 3 miles at one time.  I have lost about 40 pounds in a little over 2 years. 

I am 45 years old, married and have 2 children, ages 5, girl, and 10, boy.  I try to keep my running from interfering with my family as much as possible, e.g. getting up at 5 am.  However, Saturdays are long run days and I don't come home until around 9 am or so.  I owe my family a debt of gratitude for allowing me to pursue this passion.

80 mins on the elliptical at the gym - the Olympics were on so it made time go quickly.  Did some core after.  Tried to run around the indoor track and made it 50 feet before stopping.  I can walk, bike and do the elliptical with no problem - but running is out.

Your kneecap was stuck!? Ouch. I've been horrible at this blogging thing this last week. My hip has been messed up, i got 20 miles in last week, and didn't get to my computer much (to see you've been down and out). Nice work on keeping up with the cardio. At least you're able to get something in!

This Olympic stuff is AWESOME for working out at the gym. Time just cruises by! Good luck and keep with the cardio.

Sorry DH about the knee. I'm hoping for a quick healing. Keep doing the elliptical, as you know I stayed in pretty good shape a while back by mostly running on the elliptical.
