I have a hard time retiring shoes.  They're so dang expensive I want to get more than 500 miles out of them.  That being said, I hate these shoes.  Their bricks on me feet.  My problem with retiring them is that they have always been like that.  I can probably put more on them to get my money's worth but they suck.  I'm torn.

My legs are still a bit tired from Saturday.  I went pretty slow but not because I was relaxing.  I should have brought my head lamp.  There is often enough light even when there is no moon because clouds will glow from the lights of the surrounding cities.  But this morning was clear and with about 2 miles left I stepped in a hole and rolled my ankle and went down.  I got up and was able to limp it off and start running a little later.  There was no pain when I finished this run but now, an hour later, it's aching a little.  I hope it doesn't linger.  I was just starting to get in some miles.  I don't need this.

Oh no!!! Hope your foot and ankle is okay!!!

I hear you on the old shoes! Better bite the bullet and get new ones before you get an injury! Have you looked on line? I have had luck with Runningwarehouse.com, even Amazon or eBay.

nice run today, chad.

i have a hard time retiring shoes as well. but i would say if you think they suck, you should get a new pair. you want to be comfortable, and if they feel bad or off in any way, they could lead to sloppy form which could lead to injury. at least that's how i justify buying new shoes :)

You guys are doing a good job talking me into it. That comment you made, allie about the sloppy form struck a chord. Those shoes aren't "off" but they are heavy to the point where it is difficult to maintain the form I've been trying to improve/work on.

Ditch those shoes- or leave them for the beavers, but either way- stop wearing them if they're messing up your form and don't feel good.

Buy some new "fast" shoes- YOU CAN DO IT!!

Oh the joy of a twisted ankle! Hope it stayed OK, most of the time if you walk it out it seems to be ok!

I hear you on the shoes! I rarely retire shoes. I just wear them for different things. ;o)

I have a solution for expensive shoes that only go 500 miles.... Good luck with the ankle, I'm sure it will get better soon.

So Chad, I'll need to try crocs one of these days. But now I need something reliable to run Utah Valley in.
