Good early 5am 7 mile run.  It was warm enough for the wet roads not to freeze and turn to black ice.  Although, I saw someone scraping their windshield.  Why would a windshield ice over but not the ground?  The thermometer read 34 at my house.  I don't understand that.  Where was I?  Oh yeah, I started with a 2 mile warm up going south on the JRP.  I ran into a skunk so I had to turn around and run north.  I finished those 2 miles back at the house and changed into my Altras.  I haven't ran in these for quite a while but I'm determined to make them work.  I want my feet and lower legs to be strong enough to handle them.  So I ran a half mile then walked for a minute then ran back.  It felt all right, not any worse than my other shoes.  I changed back to the first pair back at the house and finished up with 4 miles for a total of 7.  I'll try adding just a half mile a week in those shoes and see how they go.

sounds like a perfectly reasonable plan for the altras! Glad things are coming back together - well, except the skunk :)

Glad you are being careful and back at it!

Thanks guys. There is still a long way to go before Utah Valley. RAD, I thought you were going to have an even farther way to go before Ogden but I'm begging to think you'll be there in no time.
