7 early miles on the JRP and into Saratoga Springs.  Solid effort, crappy results.  I missed a run on Saturday and you would think that some extra rest would help make this one strong and fast.  Not the case.

Anyway, Saturday and set my alarm wrong and woke up without enough time to get a run in.  My wife was out of town and the day was spent on my son's eagle project.  He is building some shelves to hold band instruments in the Willowcreek band room.  We got the shelves built and now just have to install them in a week or so.  I'm glad that is wrapping up.

Anyway again, with my wife and her sister out of town my brother-in-law and his kids came over later and we had a great time, but it left no time for a run.  With the injury early in the week and the missed Saturday run, last week's total was a measly 18 miles.  That sucks rocks.  This week will be better.  40+

(1 hour later) ... How could I forget to mention that daylight-savings time sucks?  Its a worthless tradition that nobody likes.  Just when there was a hint of light at the end my runs the government takes it away.

You have a great start to the day today! Don't let DST ruin that (even though the change makes us all tired - I do like it come June though).

Sounds like you had a fun Saturday, the extra day of rest probably helped the ankle a ton!

haha you're on the daylight savings bandwagon. I hate changing times.

Awesome goal of 40 miles this week. You can do it.

I just emailed all my legislators both state and federal asking them to repeal it. I wonder how many people actually like it?

I actually read Lily's post before yours RAD. You actually like it in June? I don't like it light at 10pm. It'd still rather have it in the morning.

You're right about my ankle. It didn't hurt at all this morning. It occurred to me this morning that my sluggishness these past few runs might be due to giving blood on Wednesday. I donated double red blood cells. I've found some comments by runners around the web that state what I've been experiencing. Even weeks later people are experiencing fatigue and decreased performance. What a pain. The blood banks really like those double red donations of my O- so I'm reluctant to stop donating that way just so it doesn't mess up my training as much.

I do like DST in the summer. The change is always hard (no, not menopause!), but I like the light evening hours. It still gets light enough early for me, I know I'm in the minority here, but I do like it. HATE the back and forth though, I honestly think that is what most people don't like. The evening daylight is always nicer and you RARELY hear anyone complain - it is just the change we have issues with.

I think you're right on the blood. I've heard it takes 14 days to fully recover from it. If your body is used to donating regularly it will compensate and recover better (just like running), but it still takes time for your body to fill those stores back up. With Oneg, I say keep the donations coming. When you get a sponsor for your running you can stop :) I'm O+ so they like mine just a little less.

Have you ever tried the double red? Lots of comments I've read say a regular donation affects them a little but the double red is killer.

Giving blood has made me super sluggish for a week or two. I won't do it near race time or hard training anymore because it truly affects performance.

DST is an early morning bummer in the spring- I agree.

Good luck on your mile increases and injury decreases.
