I went out bowhunting elk this morning. my back was a little sore when I got up this morning so I took some ibuprofin before I left. I did some hiking and everything felt normal after yesterdays long run [maybe the ibuprofin].  Later I did a 15 mile bike ride. Felt great.

I'll be waiting for my Elk steaks on October 4 :) That sounds like a lot of fun. Do you hunt anywhere around the Preston area? I have been deer hunting a few times when I was 12 and we lived there but I have never been elk hunting.

I'm mostly hunting the mountains nearby although I haven't been out much this year. It makes it hard to hunt in September with an Oct. 4 marathon and earlier when I went, the hiking over rough terrain and deadfall was tough on the bad hammy. I'll work on the steaks though but if I get one I'm not sure packing 4 or 5 loads of elk meat out will be the best thing to be doing right before a marathon.

I was only kidding about the elk steaks.....you better not be packing elk meat out of the hills anytime soon....unless of course it is a trophy elk. You just take it easy on that hammy and let the healing continue.

I do have a couple horses but I haven't had much time for them this summer and they arn't shod. I did get an elk last year and didn't bother to use them and was pretty beat by the time I finished packing the elk out myself. Last year it was right after my marathon so it didn't matter. This year I might just have to break out the horses even if they arn't ready to go if I were to get one.
