Ran 30 miles on my 30th birthday (Feb 7 2010)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Break 3 hours in the marathon

Run a trail ultra

Find a way to run high mileage without injuring myself. My current theory is that transitioning out of my super-cushioned shoes into more minimalist shoes or bare feet will help improve my form and make this possible.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run a 100 mile race.

Personal:

I am happily married to Jenni. We have three energetic little boys who also enjoy to run. Jenni and I are both going to try learning how to run without shoes this year.

Just got the new Five Fingers "Bikilas" this weekend. I haven't tested them on a run yet, but wearing them around the house they're pretty sweet. I have been out of commission for the last week with a bad cough, but other than that I'm on track for the marathon June 26. I might not meet break three hours, but I'm sure to have a good time and be wearing some sweet shoes.

Nice dude...I hope those bring you 26.2 miles of non-chaffing goodness! I'm excited to hear how that goes.

I did the bolder Boulder 10K in my sprints and really enjoyed running fast in them.

Also...finally did my first 30 miler! check my blog for the report...it was so much fun!! You really need to come out and do steamboat 50 this fall with me...its going to be amazing.

But I have determined at this point that for super rocky trail running/racing, the FF's are not my top choice because the risk of injuring my toes is too great. I was very grateful to be wearing the shoes I was yesterday, because I stubbed my toes at least 30 times which would have been severely painful in the FF's.

good luck with the shoes. I am interested in seeing how you like them. Are you going to ease into using them or switch over cold turkey?

I eased slowly into the five fingers (started with the KSOs). The race in the Bikilas went well. I ran the Seattle Rock n Roll in 3:07.
