9 miles in 1:10:48, 7:52/mi, HR 162.

Cold and wet again today.  Back still sore from Sunday's yardwork, quads a bit sore from biking yesterday, and calves sore from the run in Vibram Five Fingers.  Managed to drag myself up the road at a slower pace and again a substantially higher HR than normal (10-15 BPM higher than just a few weeks ago before the marathon recovery/break).  Feels like I've lost tons of fitness in such a short time!  Started feeling a bit better midway thru the run and picked it up the last 1/2 mile or so to finish fast.....really needed to stretch my legs.

It looks like you got a little out of practice when you took a vacation w/ M&D. You should be back up-to-speed in no time. Thus far, what is your opinion of the five fingers? I'm thinking about buying/working them into my routine.

I can only wear them for short runs (~ 20 minutes). My calves scream at me for the following 2 days or so. It seemed to get a bit better this last time I wore them. I'm considering trying them today in a 40 minute run, but may loop back by the house mid-run in order to give myself an out.

The heel drop is significant compared to my normal Adrenalines/GT2120s. I found I automatically avoid not only heel strikes but pretty much heel touches when in them. My right pinky toe somehow gets rubbed raw so I'm going to try some bodyglide on it. Finally, it takes about a mile for my feet to "get numb" to the near-direct impact, another concern on a longer-than-20-minute-run.

My one big recommendation is to *not* run in them initially....just wear them around the house for a few hours or even out in public for a couple of weeks first. My calves were yelling at me the first few times I just wore them around, no running involved. Give them a chance to get used to the idea.
