Long-Term Running Goals:

I would like to keep running ultras into my 60s.

Personal:

Details at: http://www.crockettclan.org/ultras/ultracrockett.pdf Married with six kids and six grandchildren.  Started running at the age of 46 in 2004.  My first race since Junior High days was a 50K. I skipped the shorter road stuff and went straight to ultramarathons.  I started as a back-of-the packer, but have progressed to a top-10-percent ultra finisher.  Wish I would have started running at a much earlier age.  Have had several articles published in national running magazines.  Check out my running adventure blog at www.crockettclan.org/blog

Got up at 3:40 a.m., intending to wimp out on a warm treadmill again, but saw the temperature was 41 degrees without a wind, so I dressed warmer and headed out into the cold.   I ran an 11-mile loop I will frequently run in the early mornings.   From my home, I run up Grandview Road, past the gravel pits, south of the Church Farm, and climb the ridge to the west.   I then run northerly on a dirt road that eventually takes me up to a pass by some powerlines and I now am on a ridge above the Ranches in Eagle Mountain.   I then run along a motorcycle trail to the east the is very fun, giving me a great view of the lights of homes in the Ranches.  I then descend down to some homes that are in the far northeast section of the Ranches.  Finally, I complete my loop by running  on a dirt road west of the Church farm and join up again with the east/west dirt road that runs south of the Church Farm.  This takes me back home.   If I push the pace, I can complete this run in two hours.   That is what I did this morning.   I was pleased that I didn't wimp out on the treadmill.

Also ran 7 miles on the indoor track at the Lehi Legacy Center after work.   Got dizzy after 56 laps.   I'm just trying to get a little used to running on a track in preparation for Across the Years 24-hour run on Dec 30.   I'll be running on a custom 0.5K track there.

Sounds like a nice run. There are a lot of us that run the Jordan River Parkway Trail out your way on Saturdays.

Yes, I run JRP now an then. But I hate the pavement, so it usually takes muddy trails to chase me out on it.

Dave,

I didn't know you were running ATY. Guess I should have checked the entry list. Don't worry, you won't get dizzy there, or bored. I'll be into my second day so I'll probably look like death warmed over and moving at a shuffle. It's a fun run, an aid station every 500 meters, good food, lots of company, etc.

Yes, I know ATY will be loads of fun. I know I won't get bored. Hopefully I won't go out too fast. I think you are crazy to do 72 hours. But I expect next year I'll step up to the 48. Looks like my wife and a kid or two will be coming out. Should be fun to have some family around.
