I know Sasha from the CS program at BYU. We both graduated in 1997. He probably doesn't remember me, because he was definitely more vocal in class and among the students than I was.

Married to Teresa with 3 kids: Anders (4), Kristian (9), and Zoe (12).

Fluent in Danish, but there is obviously very little need for that.

Very very tight this morning. It took about 3 miles to get into it, before the ankles loosened up. I need to get on top of that and stretch more today.

I wanted to get on the trail, so I got up about 5:45 to give myself some time. Did the usual corner canyon route. I didn't see anyone else at all today.

I'm thinking about running the Draper Trails 15k on June 7. It doesn't look competitive at all, so I'll have to think about it.

I'm thinking about taking tomorrow off to give myself a little rest. I'm going to be up late 'cause the form to register volunteers for WBR opens up at midnight. I want to give our team's volunteers the times and locations they've requested.

Regarding St George-

This is stupid. So this ½ marathon has a couple SGM slots to give away. Instead of giving them to the winner, they’ve decided to give it to the person who volunteers the most hours. Like I’m going to work my --- off for 20 hours in order to *hopefully* be the one volunteering the most hours to this race. I wanted to see if I could go run it and win it, then get the St George slot.

FYI- You can still register for the Grand Slam, and then run Des News, Park City, ToU, and St George. I would do that, but Park City falls on Aug 23^rd, when I’m on vacation.

My St George opportunities are starting to run dry. I don’t know what to do beyond begging… L

Hi Craig,

We have decided how to allocate our STG slots. The following will be posted on the Homestead site today.

The Homestead Memorial Runs have been given guaranteed slots for entrance into the St George Marathon on October 4, 2008 for both the 5k and Half Marathon. These slots will be given to the runner who provides the most volunteer hours (their own hours or the hours of friends and family) to help with the each race. To compete for the slots you must register for the race and then provide volunteer information to the race committee at runsum@gmail.com.

Ideas of where volunteers might help include: packet preparation, race morning packet pickup, course pointers, traffic control, water stations, finish line and finish line food.

The guaranteed slots to the St George Marathon are just slots. The winner must still register for the marathon and pay the entrance fee. The winner must also agree to a photo and provide a bio to be reported to the local media and to the St. George marathon.

We hope that you will join us in Midway.

Ogden is part of the grand slam too. You only have to do 4 of them so maybe you could get into the full and still do the grand slam.

I have a friend who didn't get in as well so i was checking out the 30/30 program as well for her. Here is what I found out.

We will be awarding one of our Running with Angels 5K participants a guaranteed entry to the St. George marathon. Do you have a story of triumph? In the past the entry has been awarded to someone who has been willing to share their story of triumph over adversity. Our committee reviews the stories and announces the award at the race. If you are interested in running the marathon, including sharing your story of triumph over adversity, and are willing to still pay the marathon registration fee and possibly lose a few toenails in training, we’d love you to submit your story to racedirector@runningwithangels.com

We have been awarding our St George spot to our first place winner, if they already have one, then to our second place winner and so on.

There are quite a few 4th of July races that have slots to give away. I'll see what I can do there.

I'm already commited to run the Ogden marathon relay, so I can't do the full. My luck is starting to run out...

Every year this is such a bummer when people don't get in to the marathon. I don't understand why they don't let everyone who registers in. They need to get with it and make it so they can accomidate 10000+ runners. They could do if they wanted. I think they are just lazy.

Good point. I think that St George could accomodate more runners, and they have increased the volume this year. They've given me the excuse of lodging as a reason why they limit it, which I think is retarded. If I get into the marathon, I'll figure out where to stay, and it will be in my car if I have to. The other thing about a point-point race is that you have buses to deal with. If the race started and ended at the same point, you wouldn't have to worry. Although... Boston does it point-point with buses, and they do fine. Let the extra entry fees pay for extra buses!

I heard the issue with not letting more people into SGM had to do with not enough busses and not enough hotels/places-to-stay or something along those lines. You would think they could maybe draw from surrounding communities to help with that. It would be nice if they could at least get to 10000.

I think if they really wanted they could do it. Peolpe will always find a place to stay and I think they could find a way to get everyone up to the start. It is just an excuse.

Craig:

A guy that can run 1:04 in Bryce Canyon has other ways of getting into St. George. Not that he would care to do it anyway because there are only two guys in the 300 mile radius that can do it - Hobbie and Teren, and neither of them has had particular interest in racing St. George in the last 4 years. There are about 5 more that could run 1:07, and all those are getting into St. George as elite already if they care to run it. 1:10 should be within your reach, anybody who goes faster will likely not need their St. George entry. If you do have a problem, talk to the guy who is displacing you and convince him to get in with elite status. I would say definitely worth rearranging your schedule if you do not find another way in and St. George is really important for you.
