Running Accomplishments:

I have been running for a long time...about 14 years to be exact.  I started in 7th grade.  Recently, I just finished my first marathon.  It was the first time in a very long time that running made me feel alive.  It was incredible.  I also realized how sick and tired I was of my mediocre runs.  I can do better.

My time at the St. George Marathon (2008) was 3:51:59.  This was exciting as I caught a glimpse of how much improvement can be made with some extra effort.  When I first started training, my goal was to finish.  Gradually, I realized that I would easily be able to finish.  Visions and daydreams of qualifying for Boston seem to taunt me daily.  I realize that I need to be more serious about tracking my miles and times.  Hence, the running blog.  I am SO excited to learn from others who have more experience!

Short-Term Running Goals:

Find another marathon to run.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Qualify for the Boston Marathon.

Married to the most fabulous man ever for 6 years and now have 2 beautiful/busy little boys (3, 18 months).

Tomorrow starts my new effort...running faster.  Sounds simple, right?? Not really.  I've been a cruiser for so long that I honestly am nervous about trying to run faster tomorrow (like night before my first marathon nervous).  Alright, no miles today...just loads of laundry.

Hoping for the best.

When I started running again, back in March 2008, a 10-minute mile felt SO hard to me.  It was very discouraging.  However, as I have been more consistent with my running, 10-minute miles feel really easy.  Today, ran with Megan.  Did an almost 5 mile run in 43:30.  Felt really good.  Could have gone faster.  I'd like to be a consistent 8-minute/mile runner.  It's going to take a lot though to break through.

Great job. Yeah with a 8 min mile you will be able to BQ for sure. Great goal to shoot for. Keep it up. And welcome to the blog.

You'll be surprised at how fast you can get down to an 8 min./mile with just consistent miles, like Jody said, 6 days a week. If you ask Sasha, creator of this blog, he'll advise you to run 6 days a week at a level that you can carry on a conversation with someone comfortably. I hope that makes sense.

Nicely done, your going to easily BQ with your success! Keep it up.

Hey Court! I am pretty sure this is my long lost pregnant running partners sister, am I correct? Glad to have you on the blog. It will definetely help you improve! You did so awesome in the marathon, I am so impressed! Keep it up and you will for sure get your BQ. And once Nat starts running again, you guys can get qualified together. Do you run with Megan Anderson???

Good job getting out there and pushing yourself to a desired pace. I had to run for 3 years at a 10 minute mile pace before I decided to take it up a notch, I am proud of you. Keep up the good work!

Pushed 2 heavy kids (ok not that heavy) in a jogging stroller mostly uphill...VERY hard, VERY slow.  Not a good run...ugh.  Should've gotten up early enough to run without kids.

Better, but my whole body is sore from the jogger-stoller-athon...phew.  That was crazy :)

Did speed work today.  Clocked out a 1 mile loop, and did it three times.

Mile1--7:36

Mile 2--16:02

Mile 3--23:58

I took a small recovery break in between miles.  My lungs were killing me by the end of mile 3.  But, my legs didn't hurt at all.  I am excited to get used to running faster.  Think my legs are ready, but my cardio needs improvement.  Felt great.

Ran with Megan today.  Good run, not too fast, but comfortable.

Did a sweet-up dirt run with Megan at Chuckawalla---kicked my butt.  Lots of hill running.  Maybe not my best pre-half marathon run :)

Snow Canyon 1/2 Marathon.  Goal:  1:57

Smokin' 5k time, actually way too fast (my PR 21:00)...proves I am a rookie racer. Bonked at mile 4, and the rest of the race felt longer than the marathon.  Ouch, in a big way.

My average mile was 8:26, obviously my last miles were significantly slower than my first.  This is my goal time to be training at though.

Would really like to train consistenly at 8:30 minute/mile.  This kind of a time would help me qualify for Boston.  Still can't seem to find my rythm for this pace though...always going to fast or too slow, very inconsistent.
