Pace: just happy to still be alive.

The thermometer read 52 degrees, so I dressed warm up top but had on a pair of shorts. The wind wasnn't too bad starting out. It felt like those Chinook winds that would blow through the Tri Cities after a snow storm. I ran up Cloverdale and met up with Neil at the overpass.  As I was going over the freeway a bunch of cars came, so I went up on the sidewalk/curb thing. Then the wind gusted. I didn't fall to my death, but I could have.

We ran on the south side of the freeway for a couple of miles. I'm not really sure because I forgot to turn my Garmin back on. Then it started raining. On my way back down Cloverdale the rain was pelting my face and it kind of hurt.

When I was about a mile from home this van stopped beside me and looked like it was going to turn in front of me, but it didn't. Then it finally did turn and I wondered where it was going. Then I realized that it was my wife. She heard the wind shaking the house and decided to rescue me. So I rode home and got warm.

A really good run this morning. After running the first mile in 8:14, we kept the rest of them under 8. It was nice to have a good, strong run. Weather was really nice too (nice for November).

Just kept it at a comfortable pace most of the way. One of those mornings where it's hard to know how to dress. Warmish but windy. I overdressed a bit this time.

I listened to the Rich Eisen NFL podcast. His guest was Billy Bob Thornton. I think it's impossible to run fast while listening to that guy's voice. When I got to Fairview I switched over to music and ran faster for the last mile.

Pretty gross weather this morning. It was snowing the wole time, kind of mixed with rain by the end of the run. That weather where no matter how warm you dress, you feel cold just because you are outside.

I went up to Maple Grove and took the trails in the wetland area. I stayed on the trail along the ridge thinking that it would go all the way to the end. It didn't. I thought I was going to have to backtrack, but I found a path down to the main trail.

I stopped at the Chevron on Chinden and got a Gatorade. I practiced some poor Garmin management because I think I had it going when I wanted it paused and paused when I wanted it going. By the time I noticed, I had lost about 40 seconds on my avg. pace.

Then I went down to the greenbelt and took it over to Eagle and back home. I ran past the YMCA and the parking lot was packed. People were parking at local businesses. It was humbling to realize that there were so many people smarter than I am.

I really started dragging during the last couple of miles. Probably not enough fuel and the extra effort navigating the mud on the greenbelt trails.
